I had tooooo much fun last night and took some of the greatest and funniest picture ever for this entire year....=) Loved the Halloween celebration and costume party that I went to I can't wait to see how the pictures turned out it was sooooo much fun and can't wait to go back even though it won't be a costume party anymore.....I didn't want to be here putting up with rotten kids banging at my door....I noticed the next morning when I came out they kicked over my yard ornaments and scuffed them up.....I only have about 3 more weeks here then we move into temporary lodging and would you believe it????? I LEAVE JAPAN IN 6 WEEKS THEN FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Never again ever ever ever am I coming here!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am soo excited.....hope everyone had a great weekend...I'm loving it being on my own I've been having tooo much fun finally not having anyone around trying to tell me what to do as if I would listen anyways....talk with you all soon...my internet was down the entire day today and there wasn't anything I could do about it...I really hope that doesn't happen anymore because now my days are definately numbered here!!!!

Saturday, October 30, 2010

So I don't do the Halloween thing, it's been a crazy last few days here in Okinawa....we were expecting a typhoon, then we got a typhoon, then it was just like the last one when everyone was saying it was going to be another strong one like 2007....it wasn't much of anything but wind and rain, and more wind....I live in a cul-de-sac living area here now where we moved to, so it's half a circle of apartment buildings all facing each other, so that of course blocked the wind off...nothing much to see, nothing I could do, I couldn't get ahold of anyone cause everyone else was stuck in the house like me...That lasted alll day longggg....I came up with plenty to do, but I kept opening up the door and looking out I was so restless half to death....they kept saying on our pathetic radio station here to stay away from doors and windows and not go out and open them in risk of case of death or injuries and blah blah blah.... I was like whatever...I have been opening mine up all day long...I called them up and told them "I keep opening my door but nothing is happening...." I got the silent treatment with them not knowing what to say and banged the phone down...what stupid idiots I'm around here....they NEVER know how to respond to my smart-aleck comments....hmm that typhoon lasted up until about almost midnight here, then we went into recovery mode...it was pretty boring them making such a big deal outta it, and nothing happens here as usual.....Everything went back to normal yesterday....I saw a few trees ripped out of the ground, or tree branches laying around...nothing like the other typhoons that have been going on around us have been like.....I had to get out of the house tonight again...I am still alone for another week, and these people are utterly beyond PATHETIC through and through, and my whole neighbourhood is glorifying death and skulls and skeletons and setting up graveyard anything....there was nooo way I was staying home waiting for a bunch of kids to come rattling at my door...so I'm out, and will just see what happens..... I'm on my own so I can do whatever I want it's sooo niceeeeeeeeeeeeee to finally not be watched every second of my life.... talk with you all soon....

LOL I just HAD to put this on here what came from my friend...I about died laughing, and am still laughing about it......wow I thought I was the only one who was forced to be around stupid people... "WTF, i add someone from school who was a knob thinking they had changed and there even more of a knob, after some free no string sex, fuck off, and proper jog on!!!!!" " he goes i cant remember u, i said im laurie he goes did we ever fuck?? i mean wot the hell is this guy on lol or not on lolllll"

1,000 Places To See-#101-Great Britain and Ireland-Cliveden-Taplow, Berkshire, England I found another Travel Book of mine, and decided to keep going cause this is just so much fun for me....I know that I have another one most likely packed somewhere, but I have no idea where to look for that at the moment....I hope to see all of these places...I'd surely love it....We are supposedly expecting some kind of typhoon here again....It's gotten dramatically cooler than it has been all of a sudden...from 80 something almost 90 in October mind you...to somewhere in the 50's or 60's.....I think typhoons are going to keep happening the rest of the year here...they keep happening for us on and off and come back every few months....I'm only here about 3 more weeks in my house then move into hotel living the rest of the time I'm here....not sure how I feel about that one...

100 Places To See In Your Lifetime-Heaven On Earth#100-New Orleans, Louisiana-"If truth be told, New Orleans had been included in the 100 selections for this book. This is a city unlike any other in the world. Then came the dreadful waters, and the destruction. For the time being, things aren't so easy in The Big Easy. But this is a town with a special spirit, one that reaches deep down to the bone. New Orleans will overcome, and we'll be thrilled in our next edition to return it to its rightful place in our list of 100."

100 Places To See In Your Lifetime-Heaven On Earth#99-Mount Kilmanjaro, Africa-"Ah, Africa! What could be more exotic, more vivid, more passionate? And what says "Africa" more than Kilmanjaro?" With its showy, snowy peak rising to 19,340 feet, the highest on the continent, Kilmanjaro makes the Rift Valley below tingle with mystique and adventure. Best of all, there is no need to be a great climber. This is the highest "walkable" mountain in the world." ummm yeah...I don't care how many people walk this thing and say it's easy, I am not going on a trip halfway around the world and just climb mountains the whole time...I would end up calling a helicopter to come and pick me up like I've seen done before....I guess you have to be into wilderness and all that to get excited about a place like this out in the middle of nowhere...I'd enjoy the animals of course, but not sure what else there is other than a whole lot of "nuthin'." I can't believe I've made it through this whole book now...wow, I'll have to find somethin else to start on, cause nothing ever ever happens here, and I have no idea of what to say of such a boring, and totally uneventful place.....I move in about 8 weeks from Japan...I never want to see this place again...I don't even want to talk about it I think whenever I move back to normal society.....I had a very enjoyable weekend doing whatever I wanted, and got caught up on so much since I"m hardly ever here....wonderful news though...I found my sweet cotton candy pink lip gloss after like 4 months from loosing my original one and I was sick for nearly 2 weeks after that happened....Never again is that goin to happen to me ever...I had no idea that could fall out of a pocket so easily, and I never go anywhere without it ever ever ever!!!! I had to get by with Strawberry and Kiwi, but it just wasn't the same...Yesterday I had to go and do my weekly shopping, and found my cotton candy lip gloss and was in heaven.....I was too happy.....Yes, I get called materialistic and spoiled all the time, but I simply don't care anymore....I'm so far beyond both of those, there aren't any words to describe me anymore......ahhh I just love being on my own!!! it's fabulous!!!!!! I am not on much now cause we are about to move again...I'm having to go through everything again whenever we just moved here back in July....It gets in the way of my laying around time and talking on the phone time, and watching my movies time, so I do like 5 minutes of sorting out and I"m done....I never want to do this again cause I really can't stand it, it's so boring just going through everything....this is the last week of October!!!!! Only 2 more months of this year left!!!!! good night all!!!!! xxxx

100 Places To See In Your Lifetime-Heaven On Earth#98-Vienna,Austria-"From the 16th century until the end of World War I, this city on the Danube was the seat of the Holy Roman Empire and then the Hapsburg Dynasty, and is today a repository of nobility and cultural achievements, notably in architecture and music. Whether sampling the churches or the pastry-and the service in a Viennese restaurant is nowhere to be equaled-here is a locale to be savored at a leisurely pace." What an outstanding gorgeous city...I went to Vienna 2 or 3 times I couldn't get enough of it, and loved it tremendously...One of my greatest heroes ever was from here, and I was completely hypnotized by everything that was there in Vienna....I leaned out the window of Mozart's birth house, and touched one of the gold letters....they still make Mozart chocolates there in Vienna... the same kind they made whenever Mozart was still alive..They are amazing... nothing like you have ever had before....I absolutely loved this city, and feel married to it....I love everything there is about it, and hated to leave there each time....I loved the centre statue of Mozart in the town square, and the streets there, and just everything how they built it up..People actually are nice and friendly, and know both English and German, and I could speak with them no problem...I love this city and can't wait to go back...I never get tired of seeing any of this.... I got a dvd of Vienna and of Mozart's birth house...it actually hurts to watch it cause I was there, and walked along those beautiful places....What an amazing city....I'm so glad I got to visit here...Vienna will always be very dear to me!!!!!

100 Places To See In Your Lifetime-Heaven On Earth#97-Budapest,Hungary-"Beautifully sited on both banks of the Danube, this Hungarian rhapsody provides two distinct locales. To the west, Buda is gentley hilly, with cobbled streets and architecture from a variety of periods. To the east, Pest is quite flat, with wide boulevards alive with commerce. Budapest is called The City of Spas because there are at least a dozen of them, drawing on medicinal waters issuing from underground thermal springs." I have been here to Budapest Hungary whenever I was still living in Italy!!! It was freezing cold at the time, but I absolutely loved it!!!!! I have about seven whole weeks left here in Japan then I never have to see this awful place again....It's doing nothing but raining here now....I should get home when we have a whole ton of snow that has just been dumped down on us and I can't waittt...maybe I will get a thermal sleeping bag to sleep outside since I haven't been around snow for so long...just in boring and nothing ever happens here Okinawa....No one is EVER going to tell me I Have to live on another rotten island again, I have a whole list of places I can tell them where to go...I seriously can't stand it here, but everyone refuses to believe me.... never ever again ever.....

100 Places To See In Your Lifetime-Heaven On Earth#96-Yamdrok Yumtso Lake, Tibet-"One of Tibet's sacred lakes, Yamdrok Yumtso was created, according to legend, by the transformations of a goddess. This is not so hard to believe when one beholds the lake in the summer. The water is turquoise blue, and its 309 square miles are fringed with pastures that make their way toward stately peaks. Tibetans compare the lake with the fairyland found in heaven."

100 Places To See In Your Lifetime-Heaven On Earth#95-Registan Square,Uzbekistan-"Samarkand is an old city in Uzbekistan, a central-Asian nation that broke free from the U.S.S.R. in 1991. What Lord George Curzon, then viceroy of India, said in 1899 maintains: "The Registan of Samarkand was originally, and is still in its ruin, the noblest public square in the world. I know of nothing in the East approaching it in massive simplicity and grandeur and nothing in Europe...which can even aspire to enter the competition."

100 Places To See In Your Lifetime-Heaven On Earth#94-Phat Thiet,Vietnam-"On Vietnam's southeast coast is a town that has relatively few tourists, but a lot of everything else. You can make your choice between an area of sensational sand dunes, and a long stretch of satisfying beach. Nick Faldo designed a golf course here that very well may be the best in the country. And there are older attractions, like the Cham Towers, seen here, monuments that reside on a hill overlooking the town."

100 Places To See In Your Lifetime-Heaven On Earth#93-Vancouver, Canada-"Just above Washington state in British Columbia one can fine cosmopolitan life at its finest. Vancouver enjoys a benign climate, a graceful natural harbour and fetching views of the sea and nearby mountains. Wisely, this city intends ito protect its skyline, it being the height of buildings is strictly legislated. Relaxed yet sophisticated, Vancouver offers all one could want."

100 Places To See In Your Lifetime-Heaven On Earth#92-Antibes, France-"The French Rivera is certainly one of the most glamourous of destinations, and between Cannes and Nice can be found the most sparkling locale of all, Antibes. Ther are sun-drenched beaches and secret creeks alongside streets lined with monuments fashioned out of honey-coloured stone. Juan les Pins and its storied nightlife are part of the Antibes commune, as is Cap d'Antibes, a dreamy ultraluxury resort."

100 Places To See In Your Lifetime-Heaven On Earth#91-Krabi,Thailand-"A part of Thailand's superb coastal region was damaged terribly by the tsunami of 2004. However, even in a province like Krabi, parts of which were hit hard, restoration has been remarkable. Hat Rai Leh, seen here, is a glorious beach area that was left fairly unscathed. It has fantastic sea caves and cliffs carved out of limestone."

100 Places To See In Your Lifetime-Heaven On Earth#90-Cartagena, Colombia-"This seaport on the northern coast of Colombia is divided into the Old City and the New. The walled Old City (Ciudad Antigua), founded in 1533, is the charmer, a fishing village with tiled roofs, pastel buildings, bellowered courtyards, pleasant plazas and Spanish colonial architecture. Old fortresses and palaces make for interesting exploring, while for the sun 'n' fun crowd, the beaches are top notch." This sounds a lot like Italy to me in some ways...wow I'd be totally in awe in a place like this and totally forget everything else....Yes there are other places out there besides Japan!!!! I can't understand why no one else sees it this way!!!!!!

100" Places To See In Your Lifetime-Heaven On Earth#89-The Lot Valley, France-"This agricultural region takes its name from the meandering Lot River, has long produced fine black truffles and walnuts, and is also a source of superior foie gras. The Lot fairly teems with rustically enchanting medieval villages built hard against rough-hewn cliffsides. At Pech Merle there is a cave with prehistoric wall paintings." Just the fact that all this is in France says enough for me......

Wednesday, October 13, 2010

100 Places To See In Your Lifetime-Heaven On Earth#88-Fez, Morocco-"The ancient medina of Fez in northern Morocco is virtually surrounded by low hills of olive grove and orchard that expertly frame this holy city that was founded about 800 A.D. Within its battlement and stone walls flow the scents and colours that have seemingly forever permeated its labyrinthine alleyways and courtyards. In Fez, one seems to have entered an older, secretive, alluring time." Beautiful country with exquisite sites from the looks of just this one fountain, but with me taking just one look at this over-populated city, it just reminds me of the nightmare Tokyo was and always will be, and I just don't want to have to face that again ever....It hit me today that I only have one full month left here then 2 weeks and I"m done with this place...I am sooo excited I can hardly stand it.....I will have my life back and be in normal society again....Just about 8 more weeks if everything goes according to plan and we're already making moving plans againnnnn whenever we just moved here a few months back in the summer...That seems like ages ago, but it was only this year.....I'm too excited though, so I don't care about having to move again...it means moving out of Japan and I don't have to come back here unless I want to come for a vacation and that's never gonna happen after what I had to put up with in Tokyo.....I'm still trying to get over my shock from being in Tokyo and putting up with taking the train there and back places and hailing cabs in the pouring down rain with crowds still all over the streets.....I know now and know better never to go to one of those huge New Years parade things up in New York on New Year's Eve that is broadcast all over the world....I'll just stick to watching that on tv or see it on here if I don't happen to catch it...I think it's going to take me the rest of this month to get over my shock..I have never been around crowds like that ever, and being on this island keeps us in the dark about everything until you actully get the chance to leave and get out and do what you want to finally...

100 Places To See In Your Lifetime-Heaven On Earth#87-Copenhagen, Denmark-"With 1.5 million people, this is Scandinavia's largest city, yet it is a blissfully calm place that is sophisticated but sain. pleasure garden known as Tivoli has flowers, fireworks, and fountains, while a life-size statue of Hans Christian Andersen's The Little Mermaid graces the harbour. And if you're peckish, think smorgasbord, think pastry."I would love this place of course....Anything except Tokyo....I am still trying to get over the awful shock of being in Tokyo..I keep thinking that I'm going to be faced with those types of crowds again just because I'm still stuck over here in Japan..I never wanna go through that again ever ever ever....I found out today I move into temporary lodging next month...I'm soo excited but not too thrilled about having to move all this stuff again and living out of my suitcase for about a month...still I can't wait to get outta here...so I don't care what I have to go through for that to happen finally....

I am finally outta Tokyo and I never ever ever wanna go back to that place!!! Wow is it ever good to be home finally and out of chaotic airports...Now it's back to my regular life, but I only have the rest of this month then next month, and 2 weeks and I'm outta here for good then....I will find videos of Tokyo to show everyone how crazy it is, and it's just so crowded that it just killed my mood altogether...Never again...wow I've never been so disappointed in my life on a trip and I love traveling and seeing places....can't wait to go and pick up my cats tomorrow I miss them sooo much...good night everyone I'm sooo happy to be back!!!!

Sunday, October 10, 2010

hello hello again from Tokyo Japan...Wow, I can't wait to leave here..I think I'm just sick of Japan altogether no matter what part of it I am in.....I was supposed to go to the other amusement park today, DisneySea something...but it was pouring down rain, and from the miserable time I had yesterday at the other one, I was already exhausted, and going to that would have gotten in the way of my "laying around time...." I had a very nice relaxing day staying in while it was pouring down rain and watching movies, and just enjoying the time of not having to do anything....I'm soooo ready to go back....this city just didn't cut it for me...I guess it's different for everyone...some come back raving about it, and then there's people like me where it didn't even make a dent hardly...I'm not even familiar really with what's here besides the Tokyo Observation Tower, like the Sydney Observation Tower, and I won't go up those....it's sooo much walking around here, or hailing cabs, or trying to figure out the train system alll in Japanese of course, and my Japanese is not great...I can pick up words is all, and it's not even that many.....I miss my cats back home sooo much....they are in the kennel until I come back, and I won't get to see them until like maybe Tuesday if even that....Tomorrow is doing the airport thing again...not really for me, but I'm so used to it by now, it's just a part of life, and I don't even blink anymore.....It's still raining here on and off...I'm not sure how it is back in Okinawa, but at least it's a lot cooler than it was whenever we left....I tried to mail everyone post cards, but this rotten post office hasn't been open the whole entire time I've been here...I will just have to mail everything when I get back home, and that will most likely be on the weekend....This is the most crowded city I have ever been in my entire life....it's okay to come here just to see it, but I definately wouldn't want to live here and stay...They have all kinds of Embassies here if you do want to come and live in Tokyo...everyplace from Australia to United States to change your living residence...I guess that's fine if you have family here, or have something to come here to, but if you don't like me, then it's just plain boring...Oh well, I've been here, I've seen it and done it, so I'm done.... another 2 months here and I'm done for good then....I'm so excited I'm about to make myself sick from thinking about it so much......I hope everyone is fine where you are...I can't wait to get back to be on my own computer again and be able to do my regular posts again as well....I took plenty of pics, but not as many as I took in Sydney...this place just did not do it for me...good night everyone I'm off to try and figure out my dreaded packing situation....=p can't wait to chat with you all regularly again....I logged on here, and went to answer everyone's messages, then I got knocked off and lost everything....so I'm not ignoring anyone, these computers are really weird and really annoying!!!!!!!

Saturday, October 9, 2010

A great big huge hug and hello from Tokyo JAPAN!!!! I made it here a few days ago, and have been kept totally busy from like 5am until 12 midnight tops....If it wasn't one thing it was another, and exhaustion never seems to go away ever....It wasn't so bad coming here, considering how Tokyo is only 2 hours away from Okinawa....It was just a mess getting off that island cause I have to do so much first...I miss my cats so badly now...I haven't seen them for about 5 days now....Tokyo is nice, but I just don't feel connected to it like I have other places...I guess cause I've been over in Japan so long, so none of this is a very big deal to me anymore...We went up north yesterday I believe it was, to where Mt. Fuji is, and I saw it from a distance surrounded by fog and everything else....There is an amusement park that we went to there..Not very big, and I was done with the thing by noon....I saw no reason to make us stay at some amusement park for like 9 hours until after dark....Hard Rock Cafe is just a few blocks away from where we're staying here, and it's nice, but I just couldn't get excited over it like I have others...Today we went to Tokyo Disneyland, and it RAINED THE WHOLE ENTIRE DAY...Also, not to mention there were so many people, that everyone was shoulder to shoulder, and you had to wait in a line for everything that was there like the rides and everything....It was about a 2 to 3 hour wait for one thing...I said forget it cause I wasn't standing in some line in the rain with solid Japanese people all around me making nasty jokes about me, then laughing and I have no idea what they just said about me....It was such a gorgeous theme park, and I love Disneyland...It was just ruined by the fact there were so many people you could barely walk...I have pictures and it was raining and people were just everywhere, and you couldn't even do anything....Let's see...we ended up walking around a few hours, I picked up a few things to remember the place by, then we called it quits, and went and got train tickets and headed on out....I was fed up with it..It wasn't fun at all, and I have no idea why anyone would arrange for us to go to Tokyo Disneyland on a Saturday, when the rest of Tokyo is off work and school, so that is what they are going to do on their time off apparently....I have never seen so many people in my life....The gift shops were ever worse...you couldn't even walk in without a swarm of people all over...there were parades going on, and music playing all over, and I would have loved everything, just maybe on a weekday when all of them were at work and school, and I could actually enjoy myself at that place, and now I'm never coming back here, so it makes me feel even more sick....I didn't get to do one thing....nothing.....just basically went, stayed a few hours and left...the crowds were nausiating....They keep saying China has the most population in the entire world.. I think Japan is about the same, or getting very very close...The most frustrating thing is that this is OFF SEASON.....This isn't even summertime, and people still act like the place was just built or something....I planned to go in off season, cause it would be less crowded and not everyone takes vacation when it gets colder...I guess it doesn't matter over here...Wow, maybe I'll have better luck on going to one of the Disneylands when I'm back in the states...It was all decorated up like Halloween, and everything was so gorgeous....I'm unable to connect to yahoo messenger over here at all....they have it blocked for some odd reason.....It's been quite an experience... and I don't miss Okinawa at all...........I just miss chatting on here of course and everything back home...two more miserable months being at that place and then I never have to see it again....It was like the weight of the world was lifted off my shoulders when I finally got off that wretched island....I will be home soon everyone miss u all.... take care.....xxxx

To All My Online Friends I Met Here While Living On Okinawa....A Star In the Sky for you.....

To All My Online Friends: Thank you so much for your wonderful friendship to me while I've been living here on Okinawa....I have never lived on any kind of an island in my life, so this came as quite a shock to me...I couldn't think of how to thank everyone really, and had no idea how I would get everyone a gift, and then "Star Registry" came across to me...I got a Star in the Sky for all of my friends on here so we'll be friends throughout eternity no matter what...I decided to call this one the "Friendship & Amore" star... <"Friendship & Love Star> I couldn't leave Italian out of it no matter how hard I tried...I hope this will print out okay for those who want to print it out...I have the framed original on my wall...I look at it and pass by it everyday here...I keep the small card with me...It's about the size of a credit card...The star chart that shows where our star is..I have no idea about...maybe someone will be able to read it and help me find it one day...I've never read star charts, but just the thought of us sharing a star in the sky, with all of us living all over the world, it will always be up there no matter where we end up living...I am only here for today and tomorrow then leave for Tokyo....I just returned from the resort here 10 minutes from where I live now today....I had such a wonderful time, and love that place tremendously....It went very fast, but nothing I could do about that....I loved my time there.....I have to take my computers in tomorrow while I'm in Tokyo so I won't be able to be online...I'm also taking in my laptop while I'm away...Word leaked out to me, that there is possibly a cyber cafe where I'll be staying so I hope I hope that is true so I can keep in touch and chat with you all....I decided to put this on here today since tomorrow will fly by like it's not even happening, and I have to catch the flight to Tokyo too early for me to remember right now....I will be in touch though!!! thanks again everyone for your friendship and for such awesome support while I've been living here!!!! have an incredible night!!!!

100 Places To See In Your Lifetime-Heaven On Earth#86-Paris, France♥-"If one were to choose a single city to represent Earth in an intergalactic competition of urban splendors, The City of Light would be a most worthy candidate. With the Seine providing a steady pulse, Paris♥ has for two millennia been a center of cultural and economic activity, all carried out in an atmosphere of accomplished beauty and grandeur, coloured through with indelible romance." I HAVE BEEN HERE TO PARIS FRANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't want to leave either and they about had to drag me on the plane back to the US when it was time for us to board our flight!!!! I got to go all over Paris and LOVED EVERYTHING that was there...That was when I first realized if you aren't popular on one side of the world, mainly me always being stuck with Americans, try another side of the world, and you are like a celebrity....I never had so many people talk with me ever in my whole life until I went to Paris, and I made so many new friends, and loved it..I didn't want to leave....I wish I had been born there or something or had family that lived there so I could have just stayed there....I also got to go to some part of Italy there, all I remember really are mountains and a small shop, then to Geneva, Switzerland....Loved every ticking moment of those as well and still can't give them up....I feel like I'm married to these places or something that's how much I love them....I can't wait to go back there and I hope it's soon....definately worth it, definately worth struggling with words I wasn't sure how to pronounce or make sense of myself, but just worth it cause you remember it forever....I stood right under the Eiffel Tower and loved it...I used up an entire roll of film then, when we still loaded our cameras with film....That's when I decided I didn't want to give that lifestyle up....there is just tooo much out there to stay in one place your whole life!!!!!!

Message in a Bottle Survives Epic Journey

Last year, a high school student named Corey Swearingen put a letter in a bottle, sealed it up, and dropped it in the Atlantic Ocean, off the Florida coast. It was kind of an experiment for school. In the letter, he appealed to whomever came across the bottle to contact him and let him know where in the world it showed up. Amazingly, someone did.

About 16 months after the bottle was dropped, Swearingen's marine science teacher heard from someone in Ireland. The letter had made its way across the Atlantic Ocean and washed up on the shores of the Emerald Isle, found by a 17-year-old and his Dad while out for a stroll. In an interview with Florida Today, Swearingen said he never expected the message to be found.

Can't blame him for pessimism. After all, the wine bottle, which, according to Swearingen, is being put up on display in an Irish pub, did face long odds. But it's hardly the first message in a bottle to survive a perilous journey.

In 2009, a message in a bottle washed up on the shores of England. It had been tossed into the waters near the Bahamas nearly five years previous. Incredible, but that pales in comparison to a bottle sent by Emily Hwang. True, Hwang's bottle traveled "only" 1,735 miles from Seattle to Alaska, but it took an amazing 21 years to do so.

There's even a case of a message in a bottle helping a family find a new life. In 1979, Dorothy and John Henry Peckham dropped a message in a bottle in the Pacific Ocean while on a cruise. Amazingly, the bottle found its way to Southeast Asia where it was picked up by 31-year-old Hoa Van Nguyen.

Nguyen wrote back and began a correspondence that eventually led to the Peckhams helping to sponsor Nguyen and his family's immigration to the United States.

Eat your heart out, email." I can't waittttt to try this again when I go to Tokyo...I tried it once or twice before...I put a letter in a mouthwash bottle and threw it in the ocean somewhere along the southern coast of the United States...Someone in Texas found it and we wrote for a little while...I never heard from the other one...This is soooo muchhh funnn to me cause you never know who will find it, and I love corresponding soooo muchhhhh!!!!! Wow, I really had no idea people still did this...kids maybe, but I still love trying it out as well....I'm soooo excited I can hardly wait to do this again...I don't want to do it here on Okinawa, cause this place is so junky, it will just wash up here and someone here will find it and kill my whole mood....I hope I get a responce again this time, since I want to throw out several of them!!!!!!!!!

Check out what my husband and his friends did to one guy who is leaving Okinawa for good like I will be in a couple more months...I was so furious I couldn't be a part of this!!!!! I was just like "WHY DIDN'T YOU COME AND GET ME!?!?!?!" That is too funny..I would have loved to have joined in with something like this and put make-up on him as well...I know they would flip out if they knew I posted these, but I couldn't get over how funny this was...They tape you up, then pour sticky food all over you..honey, whipped cream, coffee grounds, and I'm not sure what else, everything that would definately make me gag like crazy if I smelled all that together....I have no idea what they are going to do to me when we're about to leave here, but of course they never tell you....I go along with whatever it is!!!! It's all for fun as it is....I think it's all funny, so I don't care just as long as I get a very hot shower afterwards!!!!!
